Crested Butte Ultra - Event overview
The Crested Butte Ultra takes place on September 26, 2026, in Crested Butte, Colorado. The event includes three distances:
- 50 Mile
- 55K
- 35K
The start and finish are located at Crested Butte Community School, 818 Red Lady Avenue. The race is authorized under a special use permit with the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests. Results are posted on UltraSignup. Race entries are non-transferable. Packet pickup requires a photo ID and is handled on race day at the community school; runners may collect the goody bag and shirt for a registered runner who will not attend, but not another runner’s bib.
Course and race logistics
All courses traverse single-track trails, mountain meadows, and ridges and pass through portions of the Gunnison National Forest. Aid stations are cupless; participants must bring a reusable cup. Water dispensers are provided at the start/finish and at every aid station. Elevation details by course:
- 50 Mile: lowest 8,822 ft, highest 11,291 ft, elevation gain 8,301 ft, elevation loss 8,301 ft.
- 55K: lowest 8,822 ft, highest 11,290 ft, elevation gain 4,567 ft, elevation loss 4,567 ft.
- 35K: lowest 8,822 ft, highest 9,988 ft, elevation gain 2,280 ft, elevation loss 2,280 ft.
