Crested Butte Ultra

Crested Butte Ultra is a trail ultramarathon event in Crested Butte, Colorado, with courses that travel through the Gunnison National Forest and surrounding public lands. The routes use single track trails, mountain meadows, and ridge lines, and pass through areas with wildflowers at lower elevations and fall foliage at higher elevations. The event is authorized under a special use permit with the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests.

Distances offered:

  • 35K (Lowest 8,822', Highest 9,988', Elevation gain 2,280')
  • 55K (Lowest 8,822', Highest 11,290', Elevation gain 4,567')
  • 50 mile (Lowest 8,822', Highest 11,291', Elevation gain 8,301')

Course materials include maps, interactive maps, and downloadable GPX files. Aid stations operate under a cupless policy; runners must bring a reusable cup and water dispensers are provided at the start and finish area and at every aid station to fill bladders, bottles, and cups.

The start and finish are located at Crested Butte Community School, 818 Red Lady Avenue, Crested Butte, CO. Packet pickup happens on race day at the same school; a photo ID is required to receive a packet. Entries are non transferable. Runners receive a custom race shirt, a custom BOCO hat, and a finisher's buckle. Results are posted on Ultrasignup and race photos are provided by Redgoat Photography.

Volunteer roles include aid station support and remote access tasks, with volunteer credits available toward future race entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
