About the race
The Good Life Race is a community running event held on April 25, 2027, at Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois. It hosts multiple short-course races on city roads and lists a future date of April 30, 2028.
Distances included:
- 5K run or walk
- Youth Mile for children 12 and under
- Junior Dash one block for children 6 and under
The 5K and Youth Mile courses are USATF certified and the event describes the courses as flat, fast road races. Race rules note organized starts by pace for the 5K and Youth Mile. The 5K allows all ages but prohibits strollers and has a time limit of 75 minutes. The Youth Mile has a time limit of 20 minutes. The Junior Dash is organized into multiple age or grade waves and has a 15 minute time limit.
Registration opens September 30, 2026; the 5K registration closes December 31, 2026, while youth event registration remains available up to the event date. Published registration fees are $35 for the 5K, $19 for the Youth Mile, and $10 for the Junior Dash. All 5K and Youth Mile participants receive a tri-blend t-shirt.
Entertainment includes the OPRF drumline, a middle school band, and tumbling performers. The event lists charitable partners Beyond Hunger and Collaboration for Early Childhood and several community partners. The race received the CARA Race of the Year award in 2024.
