About the race
The Good Hops Beer Run is an annual trail event held in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. The course covers approximately 3 miles and is situated entirely within the Carolina Beach State Park. Participants navigate a natural terrain consisting of soft sand, roots, rocks, and uneven ground. Due to the nature of the trails and potential heat, the organizers classify this as a "fun" run and walk.
The event starts and ends at Good Hops Brewing. Water stations are positioned at the 1-mile and 2-mile marks of the course. While leashed dogs are permitted at the brewery, they are not allowed to participate in the race due to trail congestion.
Registration includes specific amenities based on the participant's age. Runners aged 21 and over receive a commemorative cup and a beer, while those under 21 receive an alternative treat. Participants who register by the guaranteed deadline receive an adult unisex t-shirt. All event proceeds are donated to local causes, specifically Carolina Beach Elementary School and Friends of the State Park.

Awards include overall male and female winners, masters over 55, a dedicated category for military personnel, and a youth category for ages 14 and under. A special category is also designated for father and child pairs who cross the finish line together. Parking is available at the brewery lot and on the shoulder of Harper Avenue.
