Event Overview

The Good Grief 5K Run & Walk is a community event built on the idea that movement and community can be healing. It aims to honor stories, foster connection, and provide support. The event offers three ways to participate.

Distances

  • 5K Run & Walk: Open to competitive runners and casual walkers. The course is a combination of flat sections and hills, and is stroller and child-friendly.
  • 2K Walk: A shorter course open to walkers only, also stroller and child-friendly.
  • Virtual 5K: Participants chart their own course and join the event in solidarity.

Event Details

The in-person events start and finish at Veterans Memorial Park in South Burlington, Vermont. The course is a loop that follows the South Burlington bike path and is pet, stroller, and scooter friendly. Free parking is available at Veterans Memorial Park, with overflow parking at Faith United Methodist Church. After the event, there is free Ben & Jerry's ice cream, live music, and activities for kids.

Registration & Fees

Registration is open for all events. For the in-person 5K and 2K, the standard price is $25 (with a discounted rate of $20 for ages 11-17). Children aged 10 and under can participate for free. The virtual 5K costs $20 ($5 for ages 11-17, free for ages 0-10). The event benefits Empty Arms Vermont, with 100% of donations going directly to peer support for pregnancy and infant loss.
