Event

The 20th Annual Golden Gallop takes place on September 20, 2026, in Golden, Colorado. It is the 20th edition of the event.

Distances

The event offers four participation options:

5K
10K
Kids Fun Run (for children 10 and under)
20K Challenge (a hybrid event where only the 10K portion is completed and timed on race day) There is also a "Sleep In" option for those who cannot attend on race day.

Course and Venue

The start and finish are at Golden High School (701 24th St). The course goes through downtown Golden and passes under the iconic Golden "Welcome" arch. The 5K and 10K routes are described as the same loops used in previous years.

Features and Rules

Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the 5K and 10K events. Registered dogs receive a Golden Gallop bandana. Runners with dogs or strollers must start at the back. Dogs are not permitted in the Kids Fun Run.

Cash prizes are awarded for the top three male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K. Age group awards are given across multiple categories. A bonus is offered for setting a new course record.

Additional Information

The event is a fundraiser for the Golden Schools Foundation, providing educational funding for local schools. New features for this edition include a long-sleeve performance tee and a spaghetti dinner hosted at the Golden Hotel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
