20th Annual Golden Gallop
The 20th Annual Golden Gallop takes place on September 20, 2026, with both start and finish located at Golden High School, 701 24th St, Golden, CO. The course runs through downtown and passes under the Golden "Welcome" arch.
The event program includes multiple options: a 5K, a 10K, a Kids Fun Run for children 10 and under, a Sleep In option, and a 20K Challenge where only the 10K portion is run and timed on race day. The Sleep In option and the 20K Challenge have virtual elements as described by the organizer.
Distances:
- 5K - 3.1 Miles
- 10K - 6.2 Miles
- 20K Challenge - 12.4 Miles (only the 10K is completed and timed on race day)
Dogs are allowed in the 5K and 10K when registered as an add-on; registered dogs receive a bandana in the race packet. Dogs are not permitted in the Kids Fun Run. Runners with dogs or strollers are required to start at the back of the pack.
Registration fees listed by the organizer are $35 for the 5K, $40 for the 10K, $25 for the Kids Fun Run, $40 for Sleep In, and $40 for the 20K Challenge. T-shirt size cannot be guaranteed close to race day; registering by September 1 guarantees size availability.
Cash awards are offered for the 5K and 10K with specified prizes for first through third place for male and female divisions, age-group awards across standard ranges, and a bonus for a new course record. The Golden Gallop is a fundraiser for the Golden Schools Foundation, which supports seven neighborhood schools and provides annual funding.
