Golden Gallop (20th Annual)
The Golden Gallop is an annual running event held in Golden, Colorado, with the start and finish at Golden High School. The course runs through downtown and passes under the Golden "Welcome" arch. The event supports the Golden Schools Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that provides funding to seven Golden neighborhood articulation schools and helps deliver about $50,000 in annual support.
Events offered include:
- 5K, 3.1 Miles
- 10K, 6.2 Miles
- Kids Fun Run for children 10 and under
- 20K Challenge with 10K completed on race day and remaining 10K done virtually
- Sleep In option for participants who do not run on race day
The 20K Challenge records only the 10K time on race day; the remaining distance must be completed virtually before the event and no full 20K time will be recorded. Dogs are allowed on the 5K and 10K when registered as an add on; dogs are not permitted in the Kids Fun Run. Registered dogs receive a Golden Gallop bandana in the race packet. Runners with dogs or strollers are required to start from the back of the pack.
Cash awards are offered for first, second, and third places in the 5K and 10K for male and female finishers, with a course record bonus. Age group awards are given for a range of age brackets. A long sleeve performance race tee and other store items are available; t shirt size cannot be guaranteed late in registration and registering by September 1 secures size. Packet pick up information and additional event details are provided by the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
