Going The Distance for the Salvation Army - Morton
Going The Distance for the Salvation Army is a charity community run held in Morton, Illinois, on June 20, 2026. The event sends all proceeds to the Salvation Army and also accepts donations from those who do not attend in person.
The run offers a 5K distance. Check-in takes place at a table at the Morton High School main entrance on Illinois Avenue; the start and finish lines are located in front of that same entrance. Restrooms are available inside Morton High School.
Participants and supporters are invited to bring gently used shoes for collection; drop-off containers are located by the main table near the start line. A course map shows mile and kilometer markers and indicates parking locations and pedestrian routes from parking areas to the start.
The primary parking area is the Morton High School main lot. The Jackson Lot is the recommended parking area; from there people walk west on Jackson Street and take the first left onto Illinois Avenue to reach the start. If the Jackson Lot is full, overflow lots are indicated on the provided parking map. Street parking on Illinois Avenue is not allowed on race day; volunteers may park on the north side of the start line. One parking lot south of the start line will not be open for entry or exit while the run is underway. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
