Going Bananas Run - Duluth
The Going Bananas Run in Duluth is a charity fun run held on June 5, 2027, that raises money for Project Joy. The event is open to all ages and covers approximately 2 miles through Duluth, Minnesota.
Participant registration includes race entry, a banana suit that runners keep, access to the Gorilla Challenge, and entry to the post-race celebration. Registration opens June 16, 2026 and closes January 7, 2027. The registration fee is $25.00.
The Gorilla Challenge gives each banana-clad participant a two-minute head start before a costumed Gorilla is released onto the course. Participants who finish before the Gorilla receive an "I Beat the Gorilla" finisher prize; avoiding being caught by the Gorilla is optional. The challenge is also used to generate additional donations for the beneficiary nonprofit.
Post-race activities include recognition, food and beverages, sponsor activities, and opportunities for photos with other participants. The event previously attracted more than 430 participants in its first year and the organizers are aiming to bring together more than 1,000 participants in a future edition.
