Gods Own BYU - Spring 2026 Silver is a Backyard Ultra-format event held on 23 May 2026 at Hunters Greave, Pollard Lane, Hawksworth, Leeds LS5 3BF (what3words: things.lives.freed). The event is limited to entrants aged 18 or older. Entry fee is £80. Entries opened 20 May 2025 and closed 23 April 2026; the event is currently full and had 81 participants listed.
Format and facilities
Competitors set off every hour to complete a 4.167 mile loop. Each hour a bell marks the set-off; athletes must complete the loop within the hour to continue. The sole competitor who completes a loop alone is declared the winner; all other competitors receive a DNF. The course mixes canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac; it is not flat and includes elevation gain on each loop. A separate night route avoids crossing the canal and uses a tarmac towpath.
Organisers provide hot and cold water, fruit, sweets, aid stations at the start/finish, camping, toilets, first aid cover, and a fully waymarked and marshalled route. Participants receive a Yorkshire goodie bag and a special edition T-shirt; eco-friendly shirts and hoodies are available to order before the event. Camping and parking are available on site; limited campervan space must be pre-arranged. Public transport access via Kirkstall Forge rail station is noted as the easiest nearby option.
