Gods Own BYU - Spring 2027
Gods Own BYU is a backyard ultra held at Hunters Greave in Hawksworth, Leeds. Competitors run a repeated loop of 4.167 mile and must complete each loop within the hour to be allowed to start the next one. Each hour begins with all remaining competitors setting off; any runner who does not complete the loop in time is recorded as DNF. The event continues until a single runner completes a loop alone and is declared the champion.
The course mixes canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac paths. The daytime route includes some elevation gain on each loop. A separate night loop is used to avoid crossing the canal and follows tarmac canal towpath. The route is fully waymarked and marshalled.
Facilities at the venue include camping, toilets, first aid cover, hot and cold water, fruit and sweets, and aid stations at the start and finish. A bespoke Yorkshire goodie bag and a T shirt are provided for participants. Camping and parking are available from the day before; there is no space for campervans. Rail access via Kirkstall Forge is a short walk from the venue.
Entry is restricted to those aged 18 or older. Entry fee is listed at £90 and the event is currently full with confirmed participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
