Gods Own BYU - Spring 2026 Silver takes place on 23 May 2026 at Hunters Greave, Pollard Lane, Hawksworth, Leeds, LS5 3BF. Entry minimum age is 18 or older. The event is listed as full and shows 83 participants entered. Entry fee is £80.00. Entries opened 20 May 2025 and closed 23 April 2026. This is a "silver" affiliated Backyard Ultra event; winners of silver events qualify for entry into the "gold" world team championship.
Format, course and facilities
The event follows the Backyard Ultra format. Competitors set off on the hour every hour to complete a 4.167 mile loop. Runners must complete the loop within the hour to continue to the next hour; failure to do so results in a DNF. A bell is sounded on the hour and competitors not in the starting area before the bell will be disqualified. Only the last person to finish a loop alone is declared the champion.
The course is a mixture of canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac paths. The day course has elevation gain on each lap. A separate night loop avoids crossing the canal and uses a tarmac canal towpath. Organisers provide hot and cold drinks, fruit, sweets, camping, toilets, first aid cover, a fully waymarked and marshalled route, and a Yorkshire goodie bag and special edition T-shirt for participants. Camping and parking are available at the start/finish; limited campervan spaces must be pre-arranged. Participants are advised to bring their own nutrition and appropriate clothing; a headtorch and spare batteries are recommended for night running.
