Gods Own BYU Spring 2026 Silver
Gods Own Backyard Ultra at Hunters Greave in Leeds runs a backyard ultra format in which competitors set off on the hour every hour to complete a 4.167 mile loop. Runners must finish each loop within the hour to be eligible to start the next loop; if a runner does not make the starting area before the bell they are disqualified. The event continues until a single competitor completes a loop alone and is declared the champion.
The course is not flat and includes elevation gain on each loop. Surfaces include canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac. A night variation uses a tarmac canal towpath to avoid crossing the canal after dark. Participants must wear appropriate clothing for changing conditions and are advised to have a headtorch and spare batteries for running into the night.
Facilities at the venue include camping, toilets, first aid cover, hot and cold water, fruit and sweets, fully waymarked and marshalled route, and aid at the start and finish. All participants receive a Yorkshire goodie bag and a special edition T shirt. Eco friendly T shirts and hoodies are available to pre order. Limited campervan spaces must be pre arranged. The event is a silver level qualifier in the Backyard Ultra series and winners may qualify for the gold world team championship.
