God's Own Backyard Ultra Spring 2026 Silver
This event follows the Backyard Ultra format. Competitors start a 4.167-mile loop every hour. To continue, a runner must complete the loop within that hour and be ready to start the next loop. The event continues until only one runner completes a loop alone; all other participants receive a DNF (Did Not Finish).
The event is held at Hunters Greave in Leeds. The route is a mixture of surfaces: canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail, and tarmac paths. The course is not flat, with elevation gain on each loop. A separate night loop on tarmac towpath is used to avoid crossing the canal in the dark.
The organization provides hot and cold water, fruit, sweets, toilets, and first aid. The route is fully waymarked and marshalled. Camping is available at the start/finish area from the day before the event. Parking is available, with limited space for campervans that must be pre-arranged. The nearest rail station is Kirkstall Forge, a short walk from the venue.
All participants receive a Yorkshire goodie bag. A special edition T-shirt is also provided. This is a silver-level event in the Backyard Ultra Series; the winner qualifies for entry into the gold world team championship. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
