Gods Own Backyard Ultra - Spring 2027
This event uses the Backyard Ultra format: competitors set off on the hour every hour to complete a 4.167 mile loop and must finish the loop within the hour to enter the next one. All competitors will record a DNF until the last person who completes a loop alone is declared the champion. The event is scheduled for 29 May 2027 and has an entry minimum age of 18. The event is currently full and has 93 participants entered; the published entry fee was £90.
The course is a mixture of canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac paths. The day course has elevation gain on each loop. A separate night route avoids crossing the canal and follows a tarmac canal towpath. The route will be fully waymarked and marshalled.
On-site provisions include hot and cold water, fruit, sweets, camping, toilets and first aid cover. Participants receive a bespoke Yorkshire goodie bag and a T-shirt. Camping is available at the start/finish area and parking arrangements will be confirmed; there is no space for campervans. The easiest access is via Kirkstall Forge rail station, a short walk from the venue.
Participants must wear appropriate clothing for the conditions; the event team may refuse continuation if clothing is judged unsuitable. Aid stations are provided but runners are advised to use the nutrition they have trained with. An optional event protection product is available for potential refunds in unforeseen circumstances.
