Gods Own BYU - Spring 2027
Gods Own BYU - Spring 2027 is a backyard ultra held at Hunters Greave, Pollard Lane, Hawksworth, Leeds. The event follows the Backyard Ultra format: competitors must complete a 4.167 mile loop within each hour to be eligible to start the next hour. Each hour begins with all remaining competitors setting off; if a runner fails to complete the loop within the hour they receive a DNF. The event continues until one runner completes a loop alone and is declared the champion.
The course is not flat and includes elevation gain on each loop. Surfaces include canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac paths. A separate night loop avoids crossing the canal and uses tarmac towpath. The route will be fully waymarked and marshalled.
Facilities at the venue include hot and cold water, fruit, sweets, toilets, first aid cover, camping and parking from the Friday before the event, and no space for campervans. A bespoke Yorkshire goodie bag and T shirt are provided for participants. Competitors should bring their own race nutrition; aid station facilities are available at the start and finish. Appropriate clothing is required and the event team may stop runners who are not suitably dressed. A headtorch and spare batteries are recommended for running after dark.
