G.O.A.T. 5K trail race
The G.O.A.T. 5K is an annual trail race held at The Goatery within the Kiawah River property on Johns Island, South Carolina. The course covers natural terrain across 2,000 acres of land in the Lowcountry. The race route starts and finishes at a location featuring baby goats and donkeys.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5K trail race
- 5K for kids aged 10 and under
The event is designed to be eco-friendly and does not provide traditional finisher medals. Instead, all finishers receive a farm-fresh plant. Registered participants in the timed 5K receive a commemorative trucker hat. The kids' category for ages 10 and under is not chip-timed and does not include race swag. Awards for overall winners and age group leaders consist of farm produce and specialty goods from local farmers.
The race surface is a natural trail that accommodates walkers and all-terrain strollers, though strollers are requested to start at the back of the group. Dogs are not permitted on the course. Post-race activities include a Farmer's Market with specialty goods, biscuits, and coffee. Proceeds from the event support the Hampton Wildlife Fund to assist with wildlife conservation and education in South Carolina.
Parking is available on-site at Kiawah River, approximately 1.5 miles from the neighborhood entrance. Packet pickup is available the day before the race in Mount Pleasant or on the morning of the event at the race site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
