Glow in the Park 5K - Dobson, NC
The Glow in the Park 5K is an evening community running and walking event held at Fisher River Park in Dobson, NC. The course is a 5K set along park trails that will be highlighted with blacklights, glow paint, and glow balloons. The event uses chip timing and is officially timed.
Activities before and after the course include inflatable games, hayrides, pumpkin carving, food trucks, and a free concert by Runaway Train at the park amphitheatre. After the race there are snacks, s'mores, bonfires, and games. All finishers receive a custom medal. Additional awards are given for top finishers in the following age divisions: Female and Male 14 and under, Female and Male 15 to 49, and Female and Male 50 and over.
A costume contest is part of the program with separate divisions for participants 12 and under and those 12 and older; winners receive a prize and are encouraged to wear costumes during the run. Registration includes a glow in the dark t-shirt if registered by October 1; registrations after that date are not guaranteed a shirt. The field is limited to 225 runners.
