Glow in the Park 5K in Dobson
The Glow in the Park 5K is an evening 5 kilometer event held at Fisher River Park in Dobson, North Carolina on October 17, 2026. The trails will be lit with blacklights, glow paint, and glow balloons. Participants may use glow paint and glow sticks during the run or walk. The event is organized by Surry County Parks and Recreation and Surry County Health and Nutrition Center.
Pre-race and post-race activities include inflatable games, hayrides, pumpkin carving, food trucks (Fat Catz BBQ and BJs Fry Shack), snacks, s'mores, bonfires, and games. There is a costume contest with two divisions, 12 and under and 12 and older; winners receive a prize. A free concert by Runaway Train will be held at the amphitheatre the same evening. The event is officially timed with chip timing, and every finisher receives a custom medal.
Registration costs $20 and includes a glow in the dark t-shirt. Registrations completed by October 1 are guaranteed a t-shirt; registrations after that date are not guaranteed a t-shirt. The race field will be capped at 225 runners. No refunds will be issued. The event proceeds regardless of weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
