Girls on the Run Upstate South Carolina 5K Celebration
The event is a season-closing 5K celebration for Girls on the Run Upstate South Carolina. It is scheduled for November 14, 2026 at BridgeWay Station, 1000 Via Corso Ave., Simpsonville, SC. The 5K course is a paved 3.1 miles and is intended as a non-competitive, celebratory event.
Program participants receive a commemorative medal. Registered 5K buddies and community participants who met the stated registration deadline receive a swag bag and a t-shirt. Program participants and coaches have already been registered for the 5K and do not need to register; registrants after a specified date are not guaranteed a t-shirt.
The council requires every participant to wear a race bib and assigns a running buddy for safety. The course is monitored with head counts and a council safety plan guides staff and volunteers on emergency response. The event is accessible for people with disabilities; participants may walk, run, push, or roll on the paved course. Strollers are permitted and children in strollers do not need to register.
Pre-5K activities are scheduled, including hair and bib decorating, warm-ups, and a dance activity. Volunteers support many roles such as packet pick up, parking attendants, course monitors, water stations, merchandise sales, and photography. 5K Buddies appointed through the council undergo a background check.
