Girls on the Run Southern Idaho Blaine County 5K
The event is an end of season 5K celebration for Girls on the Run Southern Idaho teams held at Swiftsure Ranch on November 7. The 5K course is 3.1 miles and serves as a closing activity that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
The event is presented as a noncompetitive, celebratory occasion. Participants are encouraged to walk, run, roll, push, or skip at their own pace. The course is accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking spots are available. For safety, all participants must wear a race bib and the council assigns a running buddy to accompany participants on course. The council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and maintains a safety plan for staff and volunteers.
Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council and do not need to register again. Community members and running buddies may participate with a suggested donation of $10. Volunteers support many roles including set up and tear down, registration, course marshals, running buddies, water stations, cheer stations, and activity stations such as bling your bib and happy hair.
