Legends Never Die - October 3, 2026
Legends Never Die is a trail running event at Oregon Gulch, Ketchum, Idaho, featuring a half marathon and a 55K ultra. The courses run on forested single-track trails and alpine stretches with notable elevation change.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles): 2,450 ft gain, forested single-track, 7,600 ft high point.
- 55K Ultra (34 miles approx): 6,781 ft gain, Fox Peak loop, high point 8,550 ft.
The half marathon follows the Big Wood River then ascends the Oregon Fox Connector trail before looping back for a finish on single-track terrain. The ultra builds on the half route by adding a loop around Fox Peak and extending toward Easley Hot Springs, with rugged climbs and open alpine sections. Both distances start and finish at Oregon Gulch via Curly’s and use well-marked steep single-track loops.
Aid stations are stocked by Atkinsons Market and include Tailwind, water, and a variety of fuel. The event supports local organizations including Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Wood River Trails Coalition, Higher Ground, and Soles4Souls. Race photos are provided free to participants and finish line refreshments and prizes are supplied by local partners.
Starts are staggered and assigned by pace to manage flow on narrow trails. Weather in early October can vary with a chance of snow at higher elevations, affecting trail and wilderness conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
