Event overview
"Legends Never Die" is a trail running event on October 3, 2026, at Oregon Gulch, Ketchum, Idaho. The event has a capacity of 200 and supports local organizations including Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Wood River Trails Coalition, Higher Ground, and Soles4Souls. Title sponsor is Zenergy Sun Valley. Official lodging partner is Limelight Hotel. Race photos are provided free to participants by Smiley’s Mountain Photo. Aid stations are stocked by Atkinsons Market with Tailwind, water, and a variety of fuel. Finish line refreshments include offerings from Sawtooth Brewery.
Courses and logistics
- 13.1 miles Half Marathon: high point 7,600 ft; elevation gain/loss around 2,372 ft.
- 34 miles / 55K Ultra Marathon: high point 8,550 ft; elevation gain/loss around 6,781 ft.
Both courses use single-track forested trails. The half course follows the Big Wood River then ascends on the Oregon Fox Connector trail and returns on a looped finish. The ultra builds on the half route with an added loop around Fox Peak and an extension toward Easley Hot Springs, including forested trails and open alpine terrain. The race starts and finishes at Oregon Gulch via Curly’s (near Easley Hot Springs) on well-marked steep single-track loops. Runners are assigned staggered start times based on pace. Weather in early October can vary at high elevation and there is a chance of snow. Registration closes October 1; capacity is limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
