Legends Never Die overview
Legends Never Die is a trail running event scheduled for October 3, 2026, at Oregon Gulch near Ketchum, Idaho. The courses use forested single-track trails and include sustained climbs, alpine sections, and varied backcountry terrain. Weather in early October can vary and there is a chance of snow at higher elevations.
Distances
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles; 2,450 ft gain; high point 7,600 ft
- Ultra Marathon: 55 km (34 miles); 6,781 ft gain; high point about 8,550 ft
The half marathon follows the Big Wood River then ascends on the Oregon Fox Connector trail before looping back for the finish. The ultra builds on the half route with an added loop around Fox Peak and an extension toward Easley Hot Springs. Courses start and finish at Oregon Gulch via Curly’s, near Easley Hot Springs, on well-marked, steep single-track loops.
Aid stations are stocked by Atkinsons Market and provide Tailwind, water, and assorted fuel. Starts are staggered with assigned start times based on pace to manage trail flow. Finish-line provisions include beverages from local partners and free race and finisher photos provided for participants. The event supports local organizations including Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Wood River Trails Coalition, Higher Ground, and Soles4Souls.
