Legends Never Die
Legends Never Die is a trail running event in Oregon Gulch, Ketchum, Idaho on October 3, 2026. It offers a half marathon and a 55 kilometre ultra marathon on single track forest and alpine trails. The course starts and finishes at Oregon Gulch via Curly's, near Easley Hot Springs, following well marked steep single track loops.
Distances
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles): 2,450 ft elevation gain, high point 7,600 ft.
- Ultra Marathon (55 km / 34 miles approx): 6,781 ft elevation gain, high point 8,550 ft.
The half marathon route follows the Big Wood River before ascending on the Oregon Fox Connector and returning on a looped finish. The ultra builds on the half course, adding a loop around Fox Peak and extending toward Easley Hot Springs, with forested trails and stretches of open alpine terrain.
Aid stations are supplied by Atkinsons Market and include Tailwind, water, and a variety of fuel. Race photos are provided free to participants by Smiley's Mountain Photo. The event supports local organizations including Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Wood River Trails Coalition, Higher Ground, and Soles4Souls. Start times are staggered and assigned by pace to manage flow on narrow trails. Weather can vary at higher elevation and there is a possibility of snow in early October.
A $200 cash prize is available for winners who break the course record; prize money may jackpot each year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
