Girls on the Run South Georgia Valdosta 5K : 5K Celebration
The event is a season-closing 5K celebration for Girls on the Run South Georgia program participants and the wider community. It is scheduled for November 14, 2026, at the Historic Lowndes County Courthouse in Valdosta, Georgia. The 5K course is 3.1 miles.
The closing 5K gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment; every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. Program participants and coaches are pre-registered for the event and do not need to complete additional registration. Non-program participants register separately, with an early bird price of $20 through September 13 and a general price of $25 from September 14 through November 14; the registration price increases three weeks before the event for non-program participants.
Accessibility and safety measures are included: designated accessible parking is available, all participants must wear a race bib provided by the council, each participant is assigned a running buddy for the full course, and the council monitors the course with head counts and a safety plan that trains staff and volunteers on emergency response. A virtual 5K option and site-based 5Ks are also described.
