9 11 Memorial 5K in Valdosta
The Valdosta Fire Department presents the 5th Annual 9/11 Memorial 5K on September 5, 2026. The event is held in remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001 and to honor first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty. The race will use a patriotic theme and the organizer encourages community members to line the racecourse with decorated signs and costumes.
The course starts at the intersection of N Valley and N Patterson in Downtown Valdosta and follows an out and back route that runs past Valdosta State University. The event is USATF certified with certificate GA24032WC, which may allow qualifying times for other races that have entry standards.
Packet pickup is available before the race at 4434 Forrest Street Ext., Valdosta, GA on September 4, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and on race day beginning early on September 5. Shirt orders closed August 15, 2026; extra shirts were ordered for late entries, but preferred sizes are not guaranteed and late entrants may receive shirts after the race.
There is an inter-agency team competition with invited agencies and a trophy and prize package for the winning team. Awards will be given to top Overall and Masters finishers, to the top two finishers in listed age groups, and recognitions will be made for the oldest and youngest finishers and the most patriotic participant.
