Girls on the Run South Central Alabama 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run South Central Alabama 5K Celebration is the fall season closing event for the council. It takes place on November 14, 2026 at Cloverdale Park, 2415 W Cloverdale Park, Montgomery, AL 36106. The event culminates the season with a 5K course of 3.1 miles and provides a tangible sense of accomplishment for program participants.
Every registered Girls on the Run participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. The event is described as accessible for people with disabilities; participants may walk, run, push, or roll at their own pace and designated parking is available. The council assigns running buddies for participants, and parent or guardian running buddies are permitted and encouraged. Running buddy volunteers appointed by the council undergo a background check.
Safety measures include mandatory race bibs for participants, course monitoring, head counts, and a safety plan that trains staff and volunteers to respond to emergencies or incidents. The celebration also includes on-site activities such as face painting, happy hair stations, water stations, and merchandise for sale.
Registration pricing for non-program participants is tiered: Early Bird $25 before October 1, General $30 from October 1 to November 11, and Race Day $35. Program participants and coaches who are part of the council are already registered and do not need to complete additional registration.
