Girls on the Run Sierras 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Sierras 5K Celebration is a season-closing, noncompetitive event held on Sunday, November 15, 2026 at the University of Nevada, Reno, Mackey Stadium. The event marks the conclusion of the program season and offers participants a tangible sense of accomplishment as they complete a community 5K.
The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles). Participants may walk, run, roll, push or skip at their own pace. All program participants receive a commemorative medal. Registration categories listed for the event include Running Buddy ($30), Alumnae ($15), Sparkle Runner ($30) and Happy Sleeper ($40).
A Girl Village provides pre-run activities such as face painting, hair decorating, coloring running bibs and friendship-bracelet making. Course volunteers guide participants along the route, and Girl Village volunteers support finishing preparations and activities.
The event is described as accessible for people with disabilities and includes designated parking. For safety, every participant must wear a race bib, a running buddy is assigned, course monitoring and head counts are used, and staff and volunteers follow an established safety plan.
