McHenry 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Northwest Illinois McHenry 5K is an end of season celebratory 5K held on May 23, 2027 at Woodstock North High School, 3000 Raffle Road, Woodstock, IL 60098. The event centers on completing a 5K (3.1 miles) as a tangible accomplishment for program participants. Every Girls on the Run participant who completes the course receives a finisher medal; adult 5K Buddies and other community participants receive a commemorative decorated race bib.
Registration for community participants is listed at $30 for online registration and $40 for day-of registration. Girls on the Run participants do not need to register separately for the 5K because their participation is included as part of the program. Packet pick up will be at Smith Physical Therapy, 110 W. Woodstock St., Suite A, Crystal Lake, on Saturday, May 22, from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
Safety and accessibility measures are described: every participant must wear a race bib, each participant has a 5K Buddy, the course is monitored with head counts, a safety plan trains staff and volunteers for incidents, and designated parking spots are available. Volunteers are requested for roles such as packet pick-up, race day registration, course marshals, water stations, lead bike, last runner, finish line refreshments, merchandise, and first aid; all volunteers undergo background checks.
