About the race
The Fall 5K Celebration is the closing event for the Girls on the Run Northern Virginia season. It is a celebratory, non-competitive and untimed 5K that gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every program participant receives a commemorative medal. The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and the event is intended for people to walk, run, roll, push or skip at their own pace. The council notes the course is accessible for people with disabilities and that strollers are allowed; individuals with strollers are asked to start in the last corral.
The event takes place on November 22 at Pentagon City - Grace Hopper Murray Memorial Park, 1401 S. Joyce Street, Arlington, VA 22202. Registration prices vary by date: Early Bird $35 (Aug 17–Sep 30), Regular $40 (Oct 1–31), Late $45 (Nov 1–21), Day of $50. Program participants are automatically registered and do not need to register separately. If a 5K t-shirt is desired, registration must be completed by September 30. The event runs rain or shine; refunds are handled if requested by the end of the Early Bird period, with later requests considered case by case. A Buddy Runner accompanies a participant for safety and encouragement. Volunteer roles include packet pick-up, course marshals, cheer marshals, water stations and medical tent support; volunteers appointed through the council will undergo a background check.
