5K Celebration
Girls on the Run Northeast Tennessee holds a season-closing 5K celebration for the Fall 2026 season on Saturday, November 14th at East Tennessee State University. Pre-event activities and the 5K start/finish are located in the intermural fields beside the Center for Physical Activity. Parking is available at the Campus Parking Garage, 1043 Jack Vest Drive, Johnson City.
The event is presented as a celebratory, noncompetitive 5K (3.1 miles) that encourages participants to walk, run, roll, push or skip at their own pace. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a medal, event t-shirt and a race bib. Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council; family, friends and community members outside the program must register and pay the stated fee. Registration fees for non-program participants are listed as $30 for pre-registration and $35 for day-of registration.
Organizers describe accessibility measures including designated parking and course accommodation for participants with disabilities. Safety procedures include required race bibs, a running buddy system, course monitoring and a council safety plan for staff and volunteers. The event includes additional activities such as face painting, happy hair stations, water stations and a merchandise booth. Volunteers are required in large numbers to support setup, registration, course marshals, running buddies, water and cheer stations, and similar roles.
