About the race
Girls on the Run New Orleans concludes each season with a celebratory 5K that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The closing event welcomes program participants of all abilities and awards every registered participant who completes the course a commemorative medal.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2026, at The Shrine on Airline, 6000 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70003. The distance is 5K (3.1 miles). The 5K is open to community runners and walkers; community participants are timed with a chipped race bib. All participants must wear the race bib provided by the council. Program participants, one adult running buddy, and coaches have already been registered and do not need to register separately.
The course is accessible for people with disabilities and includes designated parking. Safety measures include assigned running buddies, course monitoring with head counts, and a council safety plan that trains staff and volunteers to respond to emergencies. Parents and guardians may serve as running buddies for their participant. Volunteer roles for the event include set up and tear down, registration, course monitors, running buddies, water stations, cheer stations, and happy hair or face painting stations.
