Girls on the Run New Jersey East South 5K : Event Description
The Girls on the Run South 5K is a season-closing, celebratory 5K for Girls on the Run teams from Burlington, Hunterdon and Mercer counties. The event takes place at Cadwalader Park in Trenton and is held rain or shine. The course length is 3.1 miles. The event is presented as a noncompetitive celebration of completion; fastest participants may finish in about 25 minutes, while most cross the line in roughly 30 to 50 minutes.
Program participants receive a commemorative medal for finishing. Each participant must wear a race bib and have a designated 5K buddy for the duration of the course. Parents and guardians may serve as 5K buddies, and family or community members may take part if they register separately. The council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and maintains a safety plan with trained staff and volunteers.
Onsite features include water stations, an appreciation station, music, face gems and merchandise sold by the council. Designated parking spots are available and the course is accessible for people who walk, roll or use mobility devices.
