HiTOPS Princeton Half Marathon

The HiTOPS Princeton Half Marathon is a USATF-sanctioned Grand Prix event held in the historic center of Princeton, New Jersey. The race follows an iconic course that passes through notable landmarks including the Princeton Battlefield, the Institute for Advanced Study, the home of Albert Einstein, and Princeton University. Runners also pass the Princeton Boathouse on Lake Carnegie, Westminster Choir College, Mount Lucas, and Herrontown Woods.

The event features a limited field of 1,800 participants. For the live half marathon, runners must maintain a pace of 13 minutes per mile or faster. A virtual option is also available, allowing participants to complete the 13.1 miles at once or cumulatively over a two-week period. Additionally, a youth run is offered for participants up to 18 years of age.

Available distances:

  • 21.1 km (In-person and virtual options)
  • Variable distance (Youth run)

Participants in the half marathon receive a commemorative medal, shirt, and bib. As part of sustainability efforts, runners have the option to plant a tree instead of receiving an event shirt. Awards are presented to the top three male, female, and nonbinary finishers, as well as the top Princeton employees and winners in five-year age groups ranging from 14 and under to 85+. Registration proceeds benefit HiTOPS, a non-profit organization providing health education and support for young people. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
