NEPA 5K Celebration
The NEPA 5K Celebration is the end-of-season event for Girls on the Run Lehigh Valley & Pocono, held at Keystone College in La Plume, PA on Sunday, November 22. The event is a non-competitive, celebratory 5K that gives program participants a measurable experience of completion; the course is 3.1 miles.
All program participants receive a commemorative medal. The event includes program participants, families, 5K buddies (ages 16 and older), and alumni who previously completed a GOTR or Heart & Sole program. Program participants and coaches do not need to register to take part. Buddy and alumni registrations follow published pricing tiers, with an early registration price and later increases; online registration closes before the event and race day registration is available.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place: every participant must wear a race bib, most participants are paired with a running buddy, the course is monitored, a safety plan guides staff and volunteers, and designated parking is available. The event is accessible for people with disabilities and participants may walk, run, roll, push, or skip at their own pace. Dogs are not permitted except for service dogs. Merchandise is sold on site to support the council. Local and national sponsors support the 5K, and volunteers help run the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
