NEPA 5K Celebration
The NEPA 5K Celebration is the season closing 5K for Girls on the Run Lehigh Valley & Pocono, scheduled for Sunday, November 22nd (tentative) at Keystone College in La Plume, PA (1 College Rd). The event is a noncompetitive closing event that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment.
The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles). The event is designed so participants can walk, run, roll, push, or skip at their own pace. Everyone in the program receives a commemorative medal.
Registration categories listed include 5K Buddy (ages 16 and older) and Alumni. Program participants and coaches do not need to register to participate. Merchandise will be available for purchase at a booth. Dogs are not allowed except for service dogs.
Safety measures include required race bibs, a running buddy system for almost every participant, course monitoring, and a safety plan that trains staff and volunteers to respond to incidents. The council states the course is accessible for people with disabilities and that designated accessible parking is available.
