Girls on the Run Mid and Western Maryland Frederick 5K
Girls on the Run is a youth development after school program for girls in grades 3 through 8 that integrates running or other movement into a season of lessons focused on confidence, health and personal growth. Each season concludes with a celebratory 5K run.
The 2026 Frederick 5K takes place on May 31, 2026 on the Hood College campus and uses a two looped course. The event offers three participation options: a timed 5K, an untimed 5K and a virtual 5K. Registration opens April 1, 2026; registration deadlines vary by event type and include the same-day close for on-site entries and a later close for the virtual option. Published registration fees are $35.00 for the timed 5K, $32.00 for the untimed 5K and $42.00 for the virtual 5K.
A post 5K pancake breakfast celebration will follow the run, with pancakes, breakfast meats, fruit, water and juices. Current program participants and volunteer coaches are not required to purchase a ticket for the breakfast.
There is no parking on the Hood College campus. Parking is available at the nearby Frederick Health Garage on its top floor. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
