Thundering Hooves 5k and 1 Mile Trail Run/Walk
Thundering Hooves is a trail event held on May 30, 2026, at Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue in Mt. Airy, MD. The course crosses a 340 acre farm and includes wooden forest trails that open onto wide grass pathways with views of the property. More than 180 draft horses are present on the site and may be seen near the course.
The event offers in-person and virtual options and separate child and adult categories. Post-race activities listed include food trucks, mounted archery, and other riding demonstrations. The event is planned to proceed rain or shine. Organizers request that participants do not bring dogs; strollers are allowed but the course contains steep hills and valleys.
