5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Los Angeles County 5K Celebration is the season closing event for Girls on the Run programs. It takes place on December 5, 2026 at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte, California.
This event is a non timed, celebratory 5K (3.1 miles) that gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment. Participants may run, walk, skip, roll, or push at their happy pace. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
The event includes family friendly activities such as face painting, temporary tattoos, bib decorating, happy hair stations, and a merchandise booth. Strollers are allowed on the course; other wheeled devices such as roller blades, skateboards, and scooters are not permitted. Dogs and pets are not allowed in the village or on the course except for official service animals with documentation.
Program participants and coaches are automatically registered and do not need to register again. General registration pricing is listed as $35 for online pre purchase and $40 for day of registration. Parking is free only for registered program participants who present a physical paper parking pass issued by their Head Coach; lost passes cannot be replaced. Other vehicles pay the park entry fee.
For safety, every participant must wear a race bib and the course is monitored by safety runners and course marshals. Volunteer roles are available for ages 13 and up with shifts of about three hours; groups of four or more are welcome. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
