5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Greater Kansas City 5K is an end of season, celebratory event for program participants and community members. It takes place on October 31, 2026 at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles). The event is framed as a noncompetitive celebration in which participants are encouraged to walk, run, roll, push or skip at a comfortable pace.
Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal. Typical finish times range from about 25 minutes for the fastest participants to 30–50 minutes for most finishers. The council assigns a running buddy to accompany each participant through the course; parents or guardians may serve as running buddies. The event is designed to be accessible for people with disabilities and includes designated accessible parking.
Packet pick-up is available at multiple locations and dates before race day, including the Girls on the Run office and The Running Well store, with additional pick-up inside Hy-Vee Arena on the day of the event. Family members and community participants may join but must register separately, and all registrants complete a liability waiver.
