About the race
The Girls on the Run Greater Kansas City 5K Celebration is the season closing 5K event for Girls on the Run participants. The event takes place on October 31, 2026 at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, and uses a 5K course (3.1 miles) designed for participants to walk, run, roll or skip at their own pace. This celebratory event gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council and do not need to register again; family, friends and community members outside the program may participate but must register separately. The council notes safety measures for the event: every participant must wear a race bib, each participant is assigned a running buddy for the entire course, course monitoring and head counts are conducted, and designated parking and accessibility options are available to support people with disabilities. The 5K is presented as a noncompetitive, celebratory experience; typical completion times vary, with the fastest participants finishing in about 25 minutes and most finishing within 30 to 50 minutes. Packet pick-up is offered on multiple days and locations in the days leading up to the event as well as on race day morning inside Hy-Vee Arena.
