Girls on the Run Greater Kansas City 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Greater Kansas City 5K Celebration is the end of season celebratory event for program participants. It is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026 at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City, MO. The event marks the close of the season and gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment.
The course is a 5K (3.1 miles) and the event is presented as a fun, noncompetitive experience. Typical finish times range from about 25 minutes for the fastest participants to 30-50 minutes for most finishers. Participants may walk, run, roll, push, or skip at their own pace. Every registered participant who completes the course receives a commemorative medal.
Safety measures include required race bibs, assignment of a running buddy to accompany participants on course, course monitoring and head counts, and a council safety plan that trains staff and volunteers on emergency response. The event is accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking spots are available.
Packet pick-up options are offered on October 22 at the Girls on the Run office, October 30 at The Running Well Store in Mission, KS, and on race morning inside Hy-Vee Arena. Volunteer registration opens September 1. Program participants and coaches are already registered through the council and do not need to register separately.
Pricing for general registration is tiered: August 1 - September 13 $35; September 14 - October 18 $45; October 19 - 31 $50. Additional onsite activities include mural coloring, water stations, hair ties stations, and an appearance by Alpha Lit the Bubble Bus.
