Girls on the Run Greater Charlotte 5K Celebration

The event is a season-closing, celebratory 5K for Girls on the Run Greater Charlotte program participants, their running buddies, family, and community. It takes place on December 12, 2026 at Red Ventures, 1423 Red Ventures Dr., Fort Mill, SC. The event is held rain or shine and free parking is available.

Registered runners receive an event t-shirt and a finisher's medal; program participants and coaches are already registered and receive commemorative medals. The council distributes t-shirts on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Girls in the Girls on the Run program are asked to wear their maroon program shirts; Heart & Sole participants should wear grey.

Safety and accessibility measures are in place. Every participant must wear a race bib and program participants must be paired with a running buddy aged 16 or older. The course is accessible for people with disabilities and supports walking, running, pushing, or rolling. The 5K is not chip-timed, but a clock will be available at the finish. Strollers are permitted at the back of the final wave. Pets and drones are not allowed.

Additional on-site features include merchandise sales, face painting, happy hair stations, water stations, and volunteer-run support. Volunteer roles include set-up and tear down, registration, course marshals, running buddies, water stations, cheer stations, and face-painting; volunteers appointed through the council undergo a background check.
