Denver Metro 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Denver Metro 5K is an end of season, celebratory 5K that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Each program participant receives a commemorative medal to mark completion.
The 2026 event is scheduled for May 16, 2026, at City Park in Denver, located between Ferril Lake and the Museum of Nature and Science. Meet and Greet areas are organized by school name and broken into corrals in the start chute area adjacent to the zoo. Participant bibs are distributed by coaches at team signs on race day.
Program participants and coaches are already registered for the 5K. Parents and guardians who wish to run alongside a participant must register separately. Online registration is available through May 13 for a fee of $29 plus processing; race day registration is available for $34.
The course is a standard 5K distance of 3.1 miles and is designed to be accessible so participants can walk, run, push, or roll at their own pace. The event includes additional activities such as cheer card stations and happy hair stations. Volunteers support setup, tear down, bib distribution and other event operations. Running Buddies are adult women 18 or older, are background checked, and serve as encouraging on-course support rather than racing for time.
