Girls on the Run Denver Metro 5K
The Girls on the Run Denver Metro 5K is a season closing celebratory 5K for program participants. The event is scheduled for May 16, 2026, at City Park in Denver, between Ferril Lake and the Museum of Nature and Science. All program participants receive a commemorative medal.
Meet & Greet arrangements are organized by school name and broken into corrals in the start chute area located adjacent to the zoo. Coaches will distribute participants' race bibs at their team signs on race day; parents cannot pick up girls' bibs early. Early bib pick up is available May 15 from 1:00 to 7:00 PM at Empower Field at Mile High. Race day bib pick up is available at City Park starting at 9:00 AM near the meadow area east of the finish line and spectator stands.
Online registration for caregivers and community runners is available through May 13 at 11:59 PM with listed fees of $29 plus processing fees and $34 on race day. Program participants and coaches are already registered and do not need to register again. Community runners, including friends and family, are not timed.
The course includes a water stop at mile 2 and at the finish line. There is no official event parking; parking is available around City Park and on neighborhood streets and there will be street closures along 17th Street. Volunteers support roles such as set up, tear down, and bib distribution. Running Buddies are adult women 18 or older from the community, are background checked, and serve as encouraging, supportive adults along the course.
