Girls on the Run Delaware Northern 5K Celebration
The event is a season closing 5K celebration for Girls on the Run Delaware program participants. It gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment and marks the end of the season. Every program participant receives a commemorative medal.
The Fall 2026 5K Celebration takes place on Sunday, November 22, 2026 at Del Tech, Terry Campus in Dover, Delaware. Registration fees listed for the event are $25 for participants aged nine and above and $5 for participants eight and under. Program participants and coaches have already been registered through the council.
Safety and accessibility are part of the event plan. Every participant must wear a race bib, a running buddy is assigned for each participant, and the course is monitored with a council safety plan in place and trained staff and volunteers ready to respond to incidents. The course is described as accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking spots are available. A liability waiver is included with registration.
The 5K is presented as a noncompetitive, celebratory event; fastest participants may finish in about 25 minutes while many finish between 30 and 50 minutes. The event also features merchandise sales, music, dancing, happy hair stations and other season highlight activities. Volunteers support tasks such as set up and breakdown, registration, course marshalling, water stations, cheer stations and festival stations. Volunteers appointed through the council undergo a background check. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
