2026 Gingersnap 5K

The Gingersnap 5K is a celebratory event hosted by Girls on the Run Union County. It serves as the conclusion to the program season, providing participants of all abilities with a tangible sense of achievement. The event is designed to instill confidence through the completion of the distance, and every program participant receives a commemorative medal to mark the accomplishment.

The event takes place in the Town of Waxhaw, with the start and finish lines located on West North Main Street and North Church Street. The course runs through downtown Waxhaw. While the event celebrates participants in the Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole programs, it is also open to community members. An awards presentation is held following the race specifically for community and timed participants.

The registration process is tiered based on the date of entry. Early bird registration is available from August 1 through September 30, followed by standard online registration until November 20. In-person registration is also available on the day of the event. Participants in the fall program and their coaches are automatically registered, though each girl must have a registered running buddy to accompany her during the run.
