Event Overview
The Gillham Road GobbleTrot is an annual Thanksgiving Day event held in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Kansas City. Now in its fifteenth year, the event features a multi-generational gathering with options for in-person and virtual participation. The race takes place on a certified course and supports the community programs of the Pilgrim Center.
Distances and Categories
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5K: A chip-timed running and walking event on a USATF-certified course.
- Children's Dash: A short-distance race for children aged 8 and under.
- 5K Virtual: A remote participation option for those unable to attend in person.
- Children's Dash Virtual: A distance-based option for young participants off-site.
Course and Location
The in-person routes start and finish just north of the Pilgrim Chapel at 3801 Gillham Road. The 5K course leads participants along Gillham Road, through the Hyde Park neighborhood, and past the local park. All in-person runners and walkers in the 5K category are chip-timed for official results.
Participation Details
Registered 5K individual participants receive a long-sleeve T-shirt, while those in the Children's Dash receive a specific event T-shirt. The youth dash is organized by age groups: children 4 and under and 5-6 run 100 yards, while those aged 7-8 run 200 yards. Performance awards are provided for the top three finishers in various age divisions ranging from under 9 to over 85 years old. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
