Gig Harbor Turkey Trot Details

The Gig Harbor Turkey Trot is a running event held on Thanksgiving morning in Gig Harbor, Washington. The featured distance for this event is a 5K run. Participants are timed using RFID chips attached to their bibs, provided by Tortoise & Hare Race Timing. The race utilizes chip start technology, meaning an individual's time officially begins when they cross the start line rather than when the race clock starts.

Registration for the event includes a tiered pricing structure where the fee increases on the day of the race. Participants have the option to pick up their packets the day before the event at the Gig Harbor United Methodist Church or on the morning of the race at the starting line on Judson Street. Event merchandise, including shirts and socks, is available for purchase during these times.

This community focused event incorporates a food drive component, requesting that participants bring two cans of food (excluding glass jars) to be donated on the morning of the run. The proceeds from the event are used to support local initiatives, including BackPack for kids, the FISH Food bank, and college scholarships for high school students.

Due to regulations set by the City of Gig Harbor, dogs are not permitted on the course. Participants are encouraged to arrive early and utilize public parking maps, carpooling, or ride-sharing services to manage local traffic. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
