The DBC Gifts of Love Community 5K takes place on June 20, 2026, in Flossmoor, IL. The in-person run/walk is held at Vollmer Road Grove Forest Preserve, 4162 Vollmer Rd. The on-site route uses a paved trail of 3.9 miles for a total of 5K; participants may complete multiple laps. A virtual 5K option lets participants choose their own route and distance. Post-event activities include a medal presentation for participants and on-site refreshments and snacks near the registration area.
Purpose, registration and logistics
The event raises funds to buy book bags, school supplies, and gift cards for homeless school-aged children in the Chicago south suburbs, with a fundraising goal of $25,000 and an objective to purchase 1,000 book bags. Registration opens February 9, 2026, and online registration closes June 8, 2026. On-site registration is available the day of the event. Prices listed are $25 for the in-person 5K and $30 for the virtual 5K; the virtual entry fee increases after March 20, 2026. Online registered participants receive an event t-shirt; in-person shirts are picked up at the registration tent and virtual shirts are mailed about one week before the event.
