Gift of Life 5K Run/Walk & 1K Kids Dash
This is an annual running event organized by Transplants for Children to raise awareness and funds for pediatric transplant recipients and their families. The event takes place on October 3, 2026 at Lady Bird Johnson Park, 10700 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, TX 78217.

- 5K Run/Walk for teens and adults
- 1K Kids Dash for children
Registration details vary by race. For the 5K, registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes August 4, 2026 with a listed fee of $30. For the 1K Kids Dash, registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes October 3, 2026 with a listed fee of $10. All registered participants will receive a commemorative race shirt; registrants after September 1, 2026 are not guaranteed a shirt or preferred size.
The event includes age categories for competition and recognition: ages 11 and under, ages 12 to 17, ages 18 to 39, and ages 40 and up. Teams of five or more may be created in honor of or in memory of a transplant recipient.
Funds raised support programs run by Transplants for Children, including peer support groups, a scholarship program for transplant youth, and emergency financial assistance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
