Ghastly Gorge Grind
Ghastly Gorge Grind takes place in the Wentworth Valley, Nova Scotia. The main advertised distance is 25K. The course is a loop of about 12.5 kilometres with nearly 700 metres of vertical gain, so the 25K distance is covered by completing two loops. The start and finish are at the Barn. Each runner receives a ticket for one free beverage, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, and food is available for purchase.
Organizers state there will be no refunds or deferrals and recommend purchasing runner insurance at the time of registration. Registration closes on Thursday July 23 at 11:59 PM AST.
The route begins at the Barn and ascends via Crazy Creek / Ghastly Gorge toward Shunpike. The revised loop includes two trails not previously used in races, including Pussy Willow, a crossing of Horse Pasture River on a bridge, then Northern Hart up to Hart Peak. The return follows Hart Peak Pond trail, descends the F-Bomb, climbs Ho Chi Minh back to Shunpike, then down School House to Illuminati and Barclay Road before returning to the Barn. The loop has no back tracking except the final 200 metres at the bottom of the ski hill. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
