Ghastly Gorge Grind
Ghastly Gorge Grind takes place in Wentworth, NS. The event features a loop of approximately 14 km and a main race of 28K comprised of two loops. There is also a shorter distance called the Ghastly Gorge Giggle of about 6 km.
The course is predominantly singletrack trail with about 700 meters of vertical gain per loop, uphill ascents and fast downhill sections. The route crosses rivers and passes a waterfall. The start and finish are at the Barn. A trail named Pussy Willow is noted as new to trail racing. Other trail sections mentioned include Crazy Creek / Ghastly Gorge, Shunpike, Horse Pasture River, Northern Hart, Hart Peak, Hart Peak Pond trail, F-Bomb, Ho Chi Minh, School House, Illuminati and Barclay Road.
Organizers state there will be no refunds or deferrals and recommend purchasing runner's insurance at signup. After finishing, each runner receives a ticket for one free beverage, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, and food is available for purchase. The event also plans donations to the local fire department.
