Geyser Growl Half Marathon - Presented by Hillman Beer
The Geyser Growl Half Marathon is a point to point half marathon held in autumn between the Town of Black Mountain and the Town of Old Fort, North Carolina. The course departs from Lake Tomahawk Park, takes runners around Black Mountain for the first two miles, climbs Old US 70 to the Ridgecrest Conference Center crest, then follows a downhill route on a mix of dirt and paved road, passes the historic Andrews Geyser, and finishes at Hillman Beer Old Fort.
The race is limited to 500 participants and is USATF certified, Certification No. NC22020BDS. Aid stations are placed approximately every two miles; there are six stations with combinations of water, Gatorade, and cookies. Chip timing is used, with the timing chip attached to the back of the race bib; bibs should be worn on the front and visible during the race.
Packet pickup is available the day before and the morning of the race at Lake Tomahawk Park Pavilion. Shuttle service between Old Fort and the start and finish areas is ticketed and available for an additional fee. A bag drop is provided near the start. Post race provisions include snacks, water, Gatorade, hot soup, and one Hillman beer exchange for runners over 21. Each finisher receives a commemorative medal.
