Geyser Growl Half Marathon
The Geyser Growl Half Marathon is a point-to-point road race held in North Carolina. The event starts at Lake Tomahawk Park in the Town of Black Mountain and concludes in the Town of Old Fort. The course is USATF Certified and primarily follows Old US 70, passing prominent landmarks such as the Ridgecrest Conference Center and the Andrews Geyser.
The race follows a diverse route through Black Mountain for the first 2 miles before climbing to the crest at Ridgecrest. From this point, the course transitions into a descent toward the finish line using a combination of paved and dirt roads. A time limit of 3:30 hours is enforced to ensure full course support and police protection.
Participants can access six aid stations located approximately every two miles. These stations offer water, with Gatorade and cookies available at alternating locations. The finish area at Hillman Beer in Old Fort provides post-race amenities including hot soup, snacks, and water.
