CORE of McLean is presenting the 13th annual 6.6k (4.1 mile) run and walk on August 22, 2026, as a community benefit event in McLean, Illinois. The event is organized by CORE of McLean, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
The course is a point to point route along historic Route 66 from Funks Grove to the village square in McLean, finishing at the restored historic water tower and park that features a Route 66 mural. Shuttle service is provided from McLean to Funks Grove. Parking is available in McLean in the open grassy lot north of the Mobil station and McDonalds at 401 S Main St; there is no race parking at Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup.
Post race activities on the square include food and beverage vendors, awards for overall winners and first and second place finishers in 12 age groups for male and female runners, and a variety of family friendly attractions. Offerings listed for the event include a brunch from Dixie Restaurant, coffee and bakery items from Grat14ude coffee and bakery trailer, barbecue from Hink's Smokehouse, baked goods and desserts, ice cream with proceeds benefiting community projects, a car cruise in organized by Mid State Cruisers, free lawn games, face painting and temporary tattoos with a portion of proceeds donated to a local rescue, adoptable dogs and a silent auction from Ruby's Rescue and Retreat, a history museum and vendor fair at Mt. Hope Township Community Hall, and a library book sale. Two Route 66 murals provide photo opportunities.
Registration opens May 1, 2026. Fees and deadlines include a reduced pre registration fee of $45 through July 15, a pre registration fee of $50 after July 15, and a day of event fee of $60. Fees include a unisex t shirt in a soft cotton blend, a brunch ticket for Dixie on site, a drink voucher up to a $4 value, a commemorative shot glass, and sponsor gifts.
