Event Overview

The Georgia Sky to Summit trail running event takes place in October in Sky Valley, Georgia. It features two distances held on consecutive days.

Distances and Course

The event consists of two trail races:

  • 50K (approximately 31 miles) with 7,500 ft of elevation gain.
  • 25K (approximately 15.5 miles) with 3,500 ft of elevation gain and loss.

Both courses start and finish in Sky Valley and explore the surrounding mountains. The routes pass waterfalls, go up to Rabun Bald (the second-highest point in Georgia), and offer views of three states. The trails feature fall colors. The 50K has an 11-hour cutoff, and the 25K has a 5.5-hour cutoff.

Event Details

The 50K is held on Saturday and the 25K on Sunday. Registration has an early bird pricing structure, with lower prices available until July 1st. The event has a cancellation and deferment policy based on how far in advance a runner cancels.

All 50K finishers receive a medal, pint glass, hat, free photos, and a post-race meal. 25K finishers receive a medal and a hat. To be guaranteed certain items, registration must be completed by September 1st.

Trail Stewardship

The event's organizers perform trail maintenance on the course, including clearing blowdowns, widening paths, and building steps. The race also donates funds to the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy.

The event is dedicated to Victor Mariano, a friend, volunteer, and trail maintainer associated with the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
