About the race
Georgia Sky to Summit is a two-day trail running event in Sky Valley, Georgia, scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2026. The event is organized by Run Bum and takes place on trails that start and finish at Sky Valley.
Distances offered:
- 50K: 7,500 ft gain, 11 hour cutoff
- 25K: 3,500 ft gain, same loss, 5.5 hour cutoff
Organizers note the 25K is not hiker friendly and requires participants to run downhill at minimum. The 50K is held on Saturday and the 25K on Sunday. The route reaches Rabun Bald, identified in the event materials as the second highest point in Georgia.
Finisher items and photos are described for each distance: 50K finishers receive a medal, pint glass, and free photos; 25K finishers receive a medal and pint glass. To be guaranteed a hat, pint glass, or finisher medal, registration must be completed by September 1.
The organizing group reports more than 3,500 man hours of trail work on the course, including chainsawing blowdowns, clearing overgrown trail, digging to widen trails, and building steps. Run Bum Races also donates to the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy.
Effective August 25, 2026, the organizer states there are no refunds, transfers, race credits, or deferrals except in limited circumstances. Optional SPOT Refund Protection must be purchased at checkout through UltraSignup and cannot be added later. Voluntary work can substitute for a deferral under stated hour requirements.
