Gene Bednarowski Memorial and Cherry Run
The Gene Bednarowski Memorial and Cherry Run is a community road race held on the 4th of July weekend in Watervliet, Michigan. The course uses neighborhood streets, follows the shore of Paw Paw Lake, and goes through the city of Watervliet; one lane of M140 has been approved for closure to support the route.
Event options include:
- 1 Mile fun run
- 5K run/walk
- 10K run
- 5K virtual run/walk
Registration opens March 1 and closes June 30. Entry fees vary by event. Packet pickup is planned the day before the race at the Watervliet High School cafeteria and at the start area the morning of the event; the start address is 123 1st Street, Watervliet, MI 49098.
Awards and participant items are specified by event: the youth 1 Mile (13 and under) has awards for the top 10 finishers and youth entries receive t-shirts if registered by June 26. The 5K and 10K have overall male and female winners plus age group awards and placings for first through third; age groups range from 10 and under through 70+. Virtual participants receive t-shirts for entries by June 26, and shirts for virtual entries will be mailed beginning the week of July 6.
