Geelong City Race 2026 : Urban orienteering in Geelong
Geelong City Race is an urban orienteering event that uses specially designed maps to guide participants through streets, laneways, parks and the waterfront of Geelong. The event offers multiple courses with a range of direct and typical route distances and a varying number of controls. Colour maps are provided and competitors visit controls in numerical order.
Entry includes hire of an electronic timing device. The program includes additional orienteering events on the same weekend: a sprint event and a mountain bike orienteering event, plus a social dinner and presentations with a prize draw.
Courses and typical details:
- Course 1X - direct 9.8 km, typical route ~11 to 12 km, 17 controls
- Course 1 - direct 9.6 km, typical route ~11 to 12 km, 23 controls
- Course 2 - direct 7.6 km, typical route ~8 to 9 km, 19 controls
- Course 3 - direct 5.4 km, typical route ~6 to 7 km, 14 controls
- Course 4 - direct 4.0 km, typical route ~4 to 5 km, 11 controls
- Course 5 - direct 2.8 km, typical route ~3 to 4 km, 9 controls
