GEAR - Go Easy Athletic Race
GEAR is a multisport race on Vancouver’s waterfront at Vanier Park (1661 Whyte Avenue) that replaces a traditional triathlon swim and bike with water biking and a functional fitness circuit.
The race has three consecutive sections:
- 3.8 km run around the Vanier Park area
- 2.5 km water bike on the water using a Go Easy Water Bike
- 1.2 km functional fitness circuit
The total race distance is 7.5 km and no swimming is required. Athletes receive an allocated start time before race day. Timing runs continuously through each section and transition, with in-house race timing used to produce official results. The athlete with the fastest overall finishing time wins the event, and the overall first-place finisher receives a $250 cash prize.
Registration includes entry to the full multisport race, use of a Go Easy Water Bike, a finisher medal, on-course hydration and nutrition, race-day support, official timing and entry into the grand-prize competition. Exact check-in location, course maps, transition instructions and final race-day information are sent to registered athletes before the event.
No prior water-bike experience is required; a race-day safety briefing and instructions will be provided. The event runs in typical Vancouver weather, but unsafe wind or water conditions may lead to changes, delays or rescheduling. Paid parking is available. The event has a no refunds policy.
