33rd Annual Grand Island Half Marathon
The Greater Buffalo Track Club hosts the Grand Island Half Marathon on May 1, 2027 at Beaver Island State Park in Grand Island, New York. The event continues a tradition that began with the inaugural race on April 15, 1995.
Distances
- 13.1 Miles, Half Marathon (in-person)
- 13.1 Miles, Virtual Half Marathon (log distance in RaceJoy between May 1 to May 8)
The course is a flat out-and-back route along the Niagara River. More than 85 percent of the course is closed to traffic and there is no time limit to complete the distance. Chip timing is included for all in-person runners.
Event services include RaceJoy live tracking and progress alerts, free downloadable photos organized by bib number, and photographers stationed at the start, on course, and at the finish. Every finisher receives a commemorative shirt and medal. First-time half marathoners receive a medal with a distinct ribbon and a dedicated photo opportunity.
On-course logistics list six hydration stations with volunteers handing out water and sports drinks; runners may also carry their own bottles. Portable toilet stations are available along the course and additional facilities are provided in the start and finish area. A post-race gathering adjacent to the finish includes awards, food, drinks, and music.
Awards are presented for overall and masters top finishers, a 19 and under category, and the top three in each five-year age division from 19 and under to 80 plus. Event records are maintained and an entry fee refund is offered for anyone who breaks a record in their division. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
