Gatliff Marathon
The Gatliff Marathon is an annual challenge walk, jog or run held on footpaths and tracks in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex countryside. Entrants choose between two distances and aim to complete their chosen route within ten hours.
- 50 km (approximately 31 miles)
- 25 km (approximately 15.5 miles)
Routes vary each year. Each entrant receives a detailed written route description with turn-by-turn instructions, key grid references, What3words locations, magnetic bearings and a GPX file. The 50 km route includes five checkpoints; the 25 km route includes two. Participants must have their checkpoint card signed or punched at each checkpoint. The organiser records a start time when participants are checked out at the start/finish desk.
Food and drink provided by the organisers is included in the entry fee. Snacks and drinks are available at all checkpoints; soup and sandwiches are provided for lunch at one checkpoint on the 50 km route. Hot food, tea and showering facilities are available at the finish. Professional first aid cover is provided for the event.
The event base is Edenbridge Cricket Club, Blossoms Park, Mill Hill, Edenbridge. Car parking is not available at the club; paid parking is nearby and there are free alternatives requiring a short walk. A bag room is available at participants' risk. Dogs are allowed on the route, one dog per person, and must be leashed; dogs are not permitted in indoor checkpoints or the cricket club.
Entry fees are stated for each distance and include food and finish facilities. Entries can be made in advance online, by post or on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
