Bacchus Wine Half Marathon & 10K at Denbies Vineyard
The event is set at Denbies Vineyard on the North Downs near Dorking, Surrey. It offers running options on mainly off-road trails that use sections of the Pilgrims Way and North Downs Way, with undulating terrain and some very hilly sections. Runners pass scenic views over the Mole Valley, Ranmore Common and the North Downs.
Distances:
- Half Marathon, one lap around the estate and surrounding trails.
- 10 km, follows the start of the half marathon route before returning through vineyards.
- 2 km fun run for children under 12, untimed, free entry, limit of 100 entries.
The half marathon includes six wine tasting stations on the course. The 10 km visits three wine stations; participants over 18 may sample two wines, while underage runners are offered soft drinks. Musical entertainment appears at drinks stations and other points on the route, with a DJ at the finish area hog roast.
Finishers of the half marathon receive a technical souvenir t-shirt, a commemorative medal and a ticket to the post race party where food and a complimentary drink are offered. 10 km entries include a post race party ticket; a t-shirt is an optional extra for the 10 km. All participants have access to free post race photographs. Facilities at the venue include secure baggage, toilets, changing, refreshments for purchase, free parking and estate attractions such as indoor tasting, a farm shop and footpath trails.
