Bacchus Half Marathon and 10K
The Bacchus Wine Half Marathon and 10K is an event held at the Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking. The routes weave through the Denbies Vineyard and sections of the North Downs, featuring views of the surrounding countryside. While the event is organized with professional standards including chip timing, a well-marked course, and medical support, it focuses on a celebratory atmosphere involving music, food, and fancy dress.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
The course is described as undulating and challenging, making fast times difficult to achieve. The experience is centered on the sampling of English wine and various snacks at stations along the route. Many participants take part in elaborate costumes, which is a central tradition of the event. A post-race celebration includes further food, music, and wine.
The event site is accessible by public transport, with Dorking Station located less than 1 km away and Box Hill & Westhumble Station less than 2 km away. For those arriving by car, free parking is provided on-site within the vineyard grounds, a short walk from the start and finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
