Gather 5K & 1.5 Mile Fun Run : Spring Grove, IL (September 19, 2026)
This community running event is organized by Place to Gather Community Center and takes place in Spring Grove, Illinois. It is presented as a 5K and a 1.5 mile fun run/walk at the intersection of Route 173 and Siedschlag Road, with an option for remote participation.
Proceeds from registrations, fundraising, and sponsorships will support the Swiss Family Robinson Adventure Playground project. Donations will be matched by a stated $500,000 grant. The planned playground is described as an intergenerational, all-inclusive playscape intended to welcome visitors of varying ages and abilities, including people with visible and invisible physical or cognitive disabilities.
Race features and on-site activities include an event T shirt and swag bag, a food truck, a soccer clinic, a 100-yard dash for children ages 5 to 12 with prizes, and gift cards for the top male and top female finishers. Packet pick-up is offered in advance at LifeSpring Community Church, 1154 Route 173, Spring Grove. A remote runners option allows participants to complete a 5K at their convenience within seven days after the event date and optionally submit a time to receive a finisher certificate.
