Gateway to Space
Gateway to Space is a running event held at the Space Florida Launch and Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center. The event includes in person 5K and 10K races and a separate virtual 5K. Proceeds support the American Cancer Society; fundraising is optional and encouraged.

Participants must be U.S. citizens and at least 13 years old. Registration opens March 24, 2026. Some in person entries list a close date of March 26, 2026; virtual registration closes March 3, 2027. Only registered participants may board buses to the Launch and Landing Facility and spectators are not permitted. Participants must present ID and consent to a federal background check; bags and personal items may be subject to search.
Packet pickup is scheduled for March 4, March 5, and March 6, 2027, with one pickup location at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Amenities include a race shirt with a guaranteed shirt deadline of January 30, 2027, finisher medals, a costume contest, and recognition of top fundraisers. Awards are given overall, masters, and by age group and each participant may receive only one award.
All registrations are final and non refundable. If the event cannot proceed as scheduled, registrations may be moved to the virtual race with no refunds. Transfers to the virtual race are allowed through March 1, 2027; additional shipping fees apply for mailed packets. Registrations cannot be deferred to another year.
