Event overview
Gateway to Space is the 10th annual race at the Launch and Landing Facility (formerly the Shuttle Landing Facility) at Kennedy Space Center. The event will take place on March 7, 2026. The course is USATF certified: 5K - FL23017JK and 10K - FL23016JK. The event benefits the American Cancer Society. The race notes that participants may see shuttle landing marks on the course.

In-person entries are restricted to U.S. citizens aged 12 years and older. No spectators are permitted due to federal Cape Canaveral Spaceport restrictions. Registration prices listed on the page are $50 for the 5K (was $60), $60 for the 10K (was $70), and $50 for the Virtual 5K (was $60). Prices increase after January 4, 2026. Virtual 5K registration closes March 4, 2026.
Fundraising and refunds
The event encourages fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Participants who raise $250 or more are eligible to receive a full refund of their race registration fee. A referral reward program is listed that provides a $25 refund after five referred registrations complete sign-up. The race shows a fundraising progress total toward a $10,000 goal.
