Gateway to Space at Kennedy Space Center

Gateway to Space is held on the Space Florida Launch and Landing Facility, formerly known as the Shuttle Landing Facility, at Kennedy Space Center. The event supports the American Cancer Society and offers both in-person and virtual participation options. In-person races are conducted on a USATF certified course.

  • Virtual 5K

USATF certification codes are provided for the in-person courses: 5K - FL23017JK and 10K - FL23016JK. Due to federal restrictions at the Cape Canaveral Spaceport, all in-person participants must be U.S. citizens aged 12 years or older, and spectators are not permitted. Fundraising is encouraged; participants who raise $250 or more may receive a full refund of their race registration fee, and fundraising at other levels qualifies for rewards. A referral program offers partial reimbursement when a specified number of referrals complete registration.

Packet pickup is scheduled on March 5, 2026 at Running Elements in Daytona Beach, March 6, 2026 at Hyatt Place Cape Canaveral, and on the morning of March 7, 2026 at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The event is presented in partnership with Space Florida and lists an in-person 5K and 10K alongside the virtual challenge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
