Garden State 10 Miler & Cookie Chase 5k
The Garden State 10 Miler and Cookie Chase 5k is a multi-distance running event held at Colonial Park in Somerset, New Jersey. This event is a collaborative fundraiser organized by the Garden State Track Club and the Franklin Township Police Department, with proceeds supporting need-based scholarships for graduating seniors at Franklin High School.
Participants can choose from various event formats:
- 10 Miles: A distance race offering prize money for the top three male and female finishers, along with age group medals across several categories.
- 5k: Known as the Cookie Chase, this event features a costume contest with prize money for the top three costumes.
- 10 Mile Relay: A two-person team event where the first runner completes approximately 3.6 miles and the second runner finishes the remaining 6.4 miles.
- Half Marathon Challenge: A combined event where participants run both the 5k and the 10-mile race.
- 1 Mile Kids Fun Run: An untimed event for children ages 5 to 15.
The relay transfer point is situated within walking distance of the main starting area at the intersection of Mettlers Lane and Colonial Drive. Timing for the relay is based on the final completion time of both runners rather than individual splits. Free shirts are provided to the first 800 people who register. All finishers in the 10-mile and kids events receive medals, while 5k finishers receive a cookie.
Packet pickup is available on the Friday and Saturday preceding the event at a local sports store in North Brunswick, as well as on the morning of the races at the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
