The Dukes Holiday
The Dukes Holiday is a race festival at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, NJ, offering multiple road race distances around the Raritan River and park roads. The setting includes tree lined paths and a riverside trail with much of the course shaded.
Distances offered:
- Half marathon (four loops, 3.27 miles each)
- 10K (two loops, 3.1 miles each)
- 5K (one loop, 3.1 miles)
Courses follow a 3.27 mile loop in Duke Island Park. Yellow signs with black arrows mark intersections and display the distance they belong to; participants should follow only the signs for their distance. Water stations are placed three times per loop and provide water, Gatorade, and gels. Three quarters of the course runs under trees and the riverside path passes through a forested stretch before returning to the road.
Pre-race services include race day bib pickup only, bag check, portable toilets at the start area, and pre-race announcements. Chip timing provides live splits and results; participants must wear the bib on the front torso and cross the start mat within three minutes of the gun to remain eligible for awards. Every finisher receives a medal and a tech shirt; post-race food includes bagels, snacks, and drinks. Awards include plaques for the top three overall men and women per distance and medals for the top three in each age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
